Summer Sun, Something's Begun {Must Haves}

Wednesday, July 9, 2014

Hello Lovelies!!!  I hope you all had a wonderful 4th of July weekend.  Mine was glorious.  I co-hosted a really great BBQ that included fantastic sangria, an epic cake from Erin, and, really great company.  Saturday, I started the day off brunching with a friend that turned into an all-day
chat-a-thon and snacking on my beloved calvestrano olives.  On Sunday, I spent the entire day lounging by the pool with Rachel.

It was amazing.

What dreams are made of.

A pinch me kind of weekend.

I took ZERO photos.

While lounging by the pool I wore this high-waisted swimsuit bottom.  It is adorable, concealing and super fun.  The only downfall is the funny tan line on my stomach.

When selecting sunscreen, I usually pick up 2-3 bottles at a time.  I always buy one with UVA & UVB protection {which is actually required now} and with a SPF of 30.  It doesn't hurt that this one smells great!  Apply liberally.  Apply often.

This sundress is my go-to!!  It is thick enough that a slip isn't required, and, it pairs nicely with a swimsuit OR wedges.  And, this isn't a "Cover-up will buy you a wedge" kind of situation.  It is perfect for the pool or a casual dinner.

After all of the sun and fun, moisturizing is a top priority.  I found this c. Booth lotion at Nordstrom Rack for a crazy good deal.  Usually, I go for an unscented lotion, but,this one is nice and light.  It has helped sooth a few sunburns and kept my skin nicely hydrated.  Just don't forget, if you have selected a scented lotion pass on perfume.  Not only will mixing the scents change the chemical makeup of your products, but, it is also inconsiderate of others.

While this isn't the most attractive thing to share, I get the worst summer sandal feet.  They get dry and tough.  It is gross.  I admit it.  Thankfully, this callus shaver has been a game changer.  I run this along the bottom of my feet right when I get in the shower, before my feet get too soft, and lotion them up right when I get out.  This has really helped stretch my pedicures and eliminated any embarrassment.

Hair Balm

I've mentioned it before, but, my hair is a big part of my personal style.  It is almost always blown-out, smooth and voluminous.  This is SO hard to accomplish in the summer heat, when playing in the water, or, strolling about.  Thankfully, I found the Bumble and Bumble Straight Blow Dry Balm last summer.  I apply a dime size amount to my hair {I have A LOT of it} before I blow it out every 3 days.  It keeps my waves at bay, makes everything smooth, and, holds my style for several days.  Did I mention that this bottle has lasted me almost 15-months?!?!

  2. I like your list. I need to try that hair stuff. I've mostly given up this summer with the humidity.
