2015 Holiday Gift Guide {Charitable Giving + GIVEAWAY}

Tuesday, December 1, 2015

Today brings us to our final - and my favorite - gift guide here at Martha Chartreuse. I am tremendously lucky and blessed (hastag, or not) to live the life I live. I have an amazing family, sweet friends, my health, a rewarding job, and a warm home. I'm never without food, technology or access to many, many things. I live a safe and secure life in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. And it is for that very reason that I love charitable giving! Whether you are making a donation on someone's behalf, or giving to a valuable non-profit, the support will last far beyond the holiday season!

Today is the Black Friday of Charitable Giving, so be sure to follow the #OregonGive hashtag on social media!!

And if you have read the $25 and Under, My Favorite Things, and Hostess Gifts guides you know that the giveaway launches today!! Be sure to read all the way to the bottom to find out how to enter!!!

When I first moved to Portland I started volunteering at Raphael House. It is one of the most powerful and positive non-profits I have ever interacted with. Raphael House has been providing life-saving domestic violence services and educating the Portland community since 1977. From a safe and confidential home, to advocacy and case management Raphael House supports individuals and families breaking the chains of domestic violence.

How can you support Raphael House? On December 3rd from 11am-2pm a supply drive is being held at Sunnyside Centenary United Methodist.
Make a monetary donation. For just $20 you can provide the gas so a child can be safely transported to and from school for a week.

Businesses that support Raphael House: Ruby Jewel, Urban Waxx, Umpqua Bank

Hunger is a terrifying and inhumane issue that plagues our nation. Childhood hunger is a heart breaking tragedy that impacts 1 in 5 American children. That means 20% of the kids singing about Frosty the Snowmen are hungry. Three of the children on the soccer team are going without. Children you see on your morning run are hungry.

No Kid Hungry is a national organization, with a strong presence in Oregon, that is committed to getting to the root of hunger through programs, advocacy and policy.

Even Ron Swanson knows that the National Parks is an amazing privilege we have in the United States! The National Parks Foundation partners with the National Parks Service to protect our more than 400 national parks. This includes Crater Lake, Glacier, and Alcatraz Island. Funds go towards stewardship, infrastructure, educational events and sustainable business practices.
